poems about me

london fox

this darkness feels endless

but surely it gets better by each year

passing by

right?

like a fox lying on the street

cuddled up on the sidewalk

in the cold

astray in this fast paced spiral of a city

it’s hard to tell the difference

between someone with their eyes closed

and someone who cannot open their eyes

what’s even harder

is not to become suffocated

by the sound of the non stop ticking clock

that one cannot fight off

was the fox cuddled up in its dream

or did its last breath spiral into the cold air

that saturates every winter morning

of this city

as each stranger passes by

racing with the tick of the clock

each move of the clock arm

not having the time to stop by

and appreciate

the beauty

the serenity

the art

the wilderness placed right in the city

like a breath of fresh air

that everyone needs

in a city like london

in a month like december

but no one stopped by

to look at me

the one and only

london fox you’ll see

circle

insanity

losing grip of reality

because you found your one and only

whoever came before you

whoever comes after you

if anyone

they don’t matter no more

i thought we would last forever

but i guess nothing lasts forever

you with your deep blue eyes

and a heart so pure i used to cry

blue ribbons tie me down

blue ribbons run down my cheeks

from my eyes

as you pull and tug

you’re just as broken as me

but is that a reason to love

people come, people go

but you were one i thought would stay

summer after summer

year after year

i am still just me

all alone

like a bird that’s scared of height

i’m afraid of the very foundation of who i am

so darling now i die

with each summer day passing by

everything is beautiful

until it ends

until it all goes back to

faint fire

if for every candle i lit

a single drop of tear fell

what would the world feel like

if all my candles are blown out

sometimes tears fall

even when the candle remains unlit

sometimes i have to sit alone

accept the brokenness that’s in me

forever

always there

the first man i ever knew

hurt me more than any man i came to know

so how can i ever love a man again

if the first one’s got me wounded still
